Italian Hospitality, Italian Restaurants in the World” is an initiative by Unioncamere, developed in collaboration with Fipe, the Italian Federation of Public Establishments, aimed at all Italian restaurants abroad that ensure the adherence to quality standards typical of Italian hospitality. The project involves the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, located in 45 different countries, committed to promoting the initiative in their respective areas.
The project’s objectives are:
- The development and promotion of Italian agri-food product traditions and the enhancement of Italian food and wine culture;
- The enhancement of the image of Italian restaurants abroad that ensure compliance with the quality standards of Italian hospitality;
- The creation of an international network that facilitates the organization of promotional events for Italian production excellence.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania aims to be the voice of the spirit underlying the award: genuine Italian Hospitality, which knows no boundaries and becomes even more evident the further it is from Italy. Italian restaurants abroad are the true protagonists of the initiative, as ambassadors not only of taste but also of the true Italian spirit, evoking the atmosphere of a distant yet ever-present homeland.
We firmly believe in the value of Italian products as representatives of our country in the world: beyond culture and traditions, there are flavors and scents capable of mentally transporting us to other places, recalling the land of their origin. However, just like any Made in Italy product, food and wine need protection from issues such as counterfeiting or difficulties in sourcing within foreign local markets.
Within the CCIpR, there is the “Italian Hospitality” Desk, with a dedicated person handling all issues related to the information and promotion of certified and guaranteed Italian products. Additionally, the desk will provide information on issues such as traceability, counterfeiting, and Italian sounding, as well as register any management issues regarding supply, customs duties, etc.
Leveraging the knowledge the Chamber has acquired from nearly two decades of experience, we recognize the need to dedicate a member of our team to this project.
How to obtain the Italian Hospitality mark
The process to obtain the Italian Hospitality mark is rigorous and involves several phases:
- The individual establishment decides to submit its application to the Chamber of Commerce;
- After a preliminary check, the restaurant undergoes a thorough evaluation of the quality level of the services offered, with an on-site visit by chamber personnel;
- After the technical evaluations are completed, the applications are reviewed by the Evaluation Committee, which grants the certification “Italian Hospitality, Italian Restaurants in the World” after verifying compliance with the requirements.
- The Italian Hospitality mark represents an important guarantee for tourists but also offers participating businesses the opportunity for constant and timely supervision of their commitment.
