“Tax Geopolitics and Megatrends” has come to an end in Bucharest, an event organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania focusing on the transformation of international taxation and its impact on Romania’s competitiveness and attractiveness to investors.
The event was opened by H.E. the Ambassador of Italy to Romania, Laura Aghilarre, who highlighted the importance of a stable, predictable and increasingly digitalised tax framework.
Our special guest, Prof. Piergiorgio Valente, President of CFE Tax Advisers Europe, explored the evolution of global tax systems in the digital economy. Gabriel Biriș then focused on the challenges facing the Romanian tax system, including regulatory stability, the simplification of administrative procedures and the improvement of relations between tax authorities and businesses.
The discussion continued with an Expert Debate Panel addressing regulatory predictability, digitalisation, simplification and the reduction of compliance costs for businesses.
Leading the discussion on the role of dialogue between institutions and businesses, CCIpR President Roberto Musneci stated:
“In an increasingly complex economic and geopolitical context, regulatory fragmentation may provide short-term solutions, but it risks undermining long-term competitiveness. We must ensure that major changes in international taxation do not translate into additional complexity for businesses, but instead become an opportunity for genuine simplification.”
A heartfelt thank you to Crowe Romania, our speakers, the experts who contributed to the discussion, and all participants.
CCIpR will continue to create opportunities for dialogue between businesses, experts and institutions, contributing to an increasingly connected and competitive Italian-Romanian business community.
