Italian Industry at Sea: Discovering the VARD Shipyards Romania Ecosystem

On 23 September, the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania organized a visit to VARD Shipyards Romania Tulcea, a company of the Fincantieri Group, bringing together member companies and representatives of the Italian business community in Romania.

The event was opened on behalf of CCIpR by Attorney Pasquale Silvestro, Vice President of the Chamber, who delivered the institutional welcome remarks and highlighted the value of initiatives that bring companies into direct contact with the industrial excellence present in Romania.

The information session featured contributions from Claudio Taboga – General Manager, VARD Shipyards Romania; Simona-Alina Puia – SVP General Director, VARD Shipyards Romania Brăila; Laurențiu Rusinoiu – SVP General Director, VARD Shipyards Romania Tulcea; and Oana Vizireanu – VP, Procurement Department, VARD Shipyards Romania. Each speaker presented the Group’s activities in Romania, the organization of its Romanian production sites, and the main areas of industrial development within their respective fields.

Particular attention was devoted to procurement and supply chain management, with a discussion on the needs of the shipbuilding industry, procurement processes, and potential collaboration opportunities with companies capable of providing technologies, components, services, and specialized solutions to support VARD’s production activities.

This was a particularly valuable moment for our business community, as it enabled participating companies to gain a closer understanding of how to engage with a major international industrial group, the requirements expected of suppliers, and the areas in which new partnerships can develop along the supply chain.

The session was followed by a tour of the shipyard, offering participants the opportunity to explore firsthand the production processes, technologies, expertise, and industrial capabilities that make VARD one of the most significant players in Romania’s shipbuilding industry.

The initiative fully reflects CCIpR’s mission to create concrete opportunities for companies to connect, fostering industrial cooperation, business opportunities, and new synergies between Italy and Romania.

Our sincere thanks go to Filippo Greco – Vice President, Human Resources, VARD Shipyards Romania, for his valuable support in organizing the initiative, and to Salvatore Savinelli – SVP HR & Organization, VARD Group and member of the CCIpR Board of Directors, for his continued involvement and for helping make this opportunity for dialogue with one of the Fincantieri Group’s leading industrial companies possible.
